The
Junction exists to support and aid the the development of young
people in the community. Based
in Junction Road Andover, The Junction offers a modern information and communication
technology centre (with a fast broadband Internet connection), café, and
integrated access to support groups and advice.
The Junction
information, advice and guidance centre is operated in partnership between Hampshire County Youth
Service, Ridgeway Housing and Alabaré Christian Care Centres.
It offers a diverse
range of services and activities for young people, aged between
13-25 from the Test Valley
area.
The Project had its official opening
event in May 2004 which was well attended by
young people, local
dignitaries including The Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire and the Mayor
of Andover, staff and neighbours of the project. We have been
supported throughout the community by organisations such as Barclays
bank who initially donated £30,000 for the furnishing of the
internet café and have continued to support the project. Informal drop-in
sessions run five days a week giving access to the internet
facilities and information and advice. Other local agencies also run
groups from the project including Andover Mind,
Daybreak, Hampshire Youth
Service, Andover College,
and the Wessex Youth Offending Team.
Development of facilities for training and
development opportunities is currently under review and we will soon
be offering nationally recognised qualifications. Please contact us
for updated information.
